Congrats to Geary head softball coach Bridget Goodknight! After a challenging fall, her slow-pitch softball program won its very first game of the spring season, 16-7 over Calumet on March 1, with more wins to follow over Carnegie and Chattanooga.

Ashliegh Charley goes to Geary High School where she is getting ready to finish out her senior year. She started the year by trying out for the cheer team for the first time and making it, and is now ending the year playing slow pitch softball, something else she had never done before. She’s on the yearbook committee and was also a basketball manager, and she was the wrestling homecoming queen. She enjoys art, and can often find herself drawing and painting. Ashliegh considers herself as friendly, caring, and quiet.

Thursday marks the traditional start of this year’s NCAA basketball tournament, which annually produces some great drama, high-stakes bets and bracket challenges. People across the country love to challenge their friends, co-workers and relatives to see who can fill out the best and most accurate bracket.

The Watonga Lady Eagles were held scoreless during the overtime period on Friday afternoon in Hennessey, ending their playoff run with a narrow 45-40 loss to the Merritt Oilerettes. “It was a very tough loss, I feel that if we were healthy, we would be in the state tournament,” Coach Lauren Campo said.

Kyler Maddox is a senior at Watonga High School and is looking forward to his upcoming baseball season. He is an outdoorsman and can always find himself hunting or fishing. Kyler is in the marching band, and he is gearing up for graduating this spring.
