A Look at the Week Ahead for Spring Sports

After a one-week hiatus due to Spring Break, baseball, softball, and track teams will sprint ahead with a full week of games and meets. Baseball and softball home games are Scheduled for Monday, March 22. The high school softball team will play a double-header with Watonga starting at 4:00.

New to high school baseball, left fielder Michael Blackcrow is ready to start up this year's baseball season. A senior at Geary High School, Blackcrow decided to give baseball a shot this year because he thought it seemed like a fun thing to take on.

“I am excited to continue my education and my pole vaulting experience with Tabor,” Abby Boeckman said. Boeckman recently signed on with Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas. Boeckman will be participating with the Tabor Bluejays’s outdoor track and field team.

The Watonga girls basketball team is playing in the area round of the Class 2A state playoffs after an exciting, topsyturvy week of regional playoffs. After winning the district championship 61-23 over Crescent, the Lady Eagles faced Luther in the first round of regional play.

Geary: Spencer Davidson, third place at regionals in 145-pound class; Tony Davidson, fifth pace at 220 pounds; Chris Ward, third place at 285 pounds. Geary finished in 11th place as a team with 60 points in the Class 3A West regional.

Boys Set for Districts

The Watonga boys basketball team hasn’t played a game since Jan. 26, but they’ll have to be ready to take on Crescent in district play starting at 8 p.m. Saturday in Area 1 play. Both teams will advance to regional play on Feb. 25.
