Congrats to Joe Jackson on his 2nd place finish and Ernesto Duenez on his 5th place finish at the Hub City Classic in Clinton! Also want to shout out to Shawn Johnson for getting second in a weight class above her! She alone got a 3rd place finish as a team! Great job this weekend!

Boys Beat Okeene, Maintain Top-20 Ranking

The Watonga Boys Basketball team played only one game last week, as well, bacuase of COVID-19 reasons. The boys beat Blaine County rivals Okeene in a close game, 54-50. The boys also had good news, as they retained a top-20 ranking in Class 2A. The Eagles are ranked No. 19.

Izzy Yellowfish Pushes on During Basketball Season

After being chosen as last month’s Outstanding Student, Izzy Yellowfish is back to tell us about how his basketball season has gone.

Boys Fall Just Short in Coyle Title Game

The Watonga boys basketball team capped off a successful 3-1 week with a trip to the Coyle Invitational Tournament title game. The Eagles fell short, losing a close game, 65- 60, to Southwest Convenant.

Geary Basketball Updates

Girls drop game to Watonga, cancel others COVID-19 continues to hit the Geary girls basketball program with gut punches. The girls had two more games canceled in the past week (Friday vs. Gracemont and Monday vs.Aline-Cleo) and managed only one game against Watonga, a 58-21 loss.

Lady Eagles Soar Through Coyle Tournament

The championship game of the Coyle Invitational Tournament featured a rubber match between the girls of Watonga and Okarche. Twice this season, the two teams fought hard in closely matched games. In early January, Okarche got the better of Watonga, 58- 54, during the 3 Rivers Conference Tournament.

From a determination to work hard in school to a love for basketball, Izzy Yellowfish lays out why he was picked as this month’s Outstanding Student. Yellowfish, a senior at Geary High School, is seen as a leader in the eyes of the high school principal, Christa Burns.

Eagles Surge to No. 20 in the Rankings with Solid Week

The 20th-ranked 5-2 Watonga Eagles capped off a successful week, finishing 2-1. On Jan. 12, the boys suffered the lone defeat on the week, losing 47-41 in a battle of the Eagles to No. Hennessy Eagles (8-1).

Three Wins Give Lady Eagles Winning Record

The Watonga Lady Eagles steamrolled to three wins in the past week, improving their record to 4-3 on the season. Lauren Campo’s squad kicked things off with a convincing 54-31 win at Hennessy.

Watonga Boys Cap Off Successful Week

The Watonga Eagles finished the past week with a 3-1 record and a third-place finish in the Three Rivers tournament. The boys kicked off the The boys kicked off the week with an easy 61-34 over the Lookeba-Sickles. Next up was the much anticipate Three Rivers Tournament.
