The Geary Lady Bison played the Okarche Lady Warriors Sept. 21 on the road, but were unable to come up with a win, losing 9-0. The district games begin Sept. 24, with Geary playing host to Dover at 4 p.m. Second and third games will follow if needed

The Watonga Eagles were on the road Sept. 11 for their quarantine delayed season opener against Rush Springs. The Eagles took on a dominating Redskins team but were unable to take the win, going down by a score of 45-18 in the non-conference game. The Eagle Football team finally got their chance Sept. 11 to start the 2020 season at Rush Springs. The Eagles started out hot, moving the ball with some great running from quarterback Joe Jackson and junior Levi Denham at running back.

The Geary Bison seemed to find their stride Sept. 10 when they traveled to Ryan High School to take on the Cowboys. The Bison, under first year head coach David Ellis, gored the Cowboys by a blowout score of 50-0. The Bison are away this week, kicking off against the Tigers at 7 p.m. at Mountain View. “We played Ryan a lot better than we did against Canton,” Ellis said.

Lady Bison Take on Bethany Tournament

Lady Eagles Bring Home Trophy

The Watonga Lady Eagles came home Sept. 12 with a third place trophy for the Fairview Softball tournament. The Lady Eagles next play Crossings Christian at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 15 away and at home Sept. 17 vs. the Hinton Lady Comets.

Boys’ High School 5 KM run
Cy Walters, a Watonga High School senior, placed sixth with a time of 3:54.33; Ryan Miller placed 64th with a time of 4:41.57, while Benji Macias, a junior, was 118th running in 5:54.43.
Dilon Fisher of Lomega High School placed 58th with a time of 4:38.

Bison Take on Canton in Season Opener

The Geary Bison had a rough go of it Sept. 4 against the Canton Tigers, losing by a score of 56-16.
Next up for the Bison on Sept 10 is Ryan at home in a non-confence game. Kickoff for the Thursday game is 7 p.m. at Bison Field.

Lady Bison Hit the Road for Eventful Week

The Geary Lady Bison softball team had a busy week and a busier one ahead.
Sept. 1 the team was at home in a three-way matchup with the Thomas Lady Terriers and the Fletcher Lady Wildcats. In the first outing, against Fletcher, the Lady Bison came out on top with 3 runs to none.

MCC Thunder Coach has Watonga in His Blood

Chelvin Webb is a man passionate about two things – reaching kids and basketball. The 24-year-old assistant coach with strong Watonga ties is using one to accomplish the other.
Webb attended school in Watonga for a time, in preschool, then for the fifth and seventh grade.
