Geary Public Schools Offering Free Sports Physicals to Student-Athletes

On July 21, Geary Public Schools will offer free sports physicals for kids entering grades 5-12. Beginning at 9 a.m. at Stegall-Long Fieldhouse, all student-athletes who intend to play sports this school year must have a physical on file in order to participate in activities.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Now that the NFL’s Washington Redskins have retired their contentious nickname and logo after decades of objection and amid a nationwide movement calling for racial justice, the MLB’s Cleveland Indians appear to be the next major sports franchise that might assume a new identity.

The Watonga Republican/Geary Star is dedicated to helping youth achieve a stronger foundation for future learning and career selection. As promised, the newspaper will award multiple scholarships this summer to outgoing WHS and GHS graduates who played sports during their senior year.

Lady Eagles’ Cheerleading Tryouts Rescheduled

Watonga Public Schools announced late Tuesday night on its official Facebook page that practices and tryouts for Lady Eagles’ varsity cheerleading (incoming grades 9-12) were rescheduled for next week. On July 15-17, Watonga will host practices from 8-11 a.m.
