A historic meeting, with little fanfare, was held June 7 at the Lucky Star Casino conference room. It had all the necessary leaders and partners, such as the mayor of Watonga and the director of the Fort Wallace Museum in Kansas. But there was more going on than just a meeting.

Mobile Wellness at Geary Through July

Health on the go mobile wellness unit will set up at Geary City Hall each Monday through the end of July. Those dates are June 12,19 and 26 as well as July 3, 10, 17 and 24. The location will be open from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

O’Malley Dates Announced

Johnson O’Malley School Supply and backpack distribution will be at 12-2 p.m. July 21 at the Geary ERC and 3-6 p.m. July 24 at Watonga ERC. The Geary event will be for residents of Geary, Calumet and Hinton, while the Watonga event will cover Watonga and Thomas. From 3-6 p.m.

A food bag pickup will be held for Geary students from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at the high school. Students who cannot attend may contact the high school office by Wednesday, June 14 to arrange to have a bag delivered.

Chamber Meeting Set For Thursday

The Geary Chamber of Commerce will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 15 at the Community Building. It will be discussing the theme for the Tri-County Fair/Parade and looking for volunteers to help with the fair and the parade. Everyone is welcome. Fair book ads are also available for purchase.

Tribal Compact Veto Faces Override

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma House of Representatives voted Monday to override the veto of a measure allowing any tribe with an existing motor vehicle licensing or registration agreement to extend the agreement until Dec. 31, 2024.

Geary Man Arrested in Kansas

According to a report from MSC News, a man identified as 30-year-old Charles Scott of Geary was arrested in Brown County, Kansas and charged with possession of methamphetamines, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
