Tax Sale Draws Eager Crowd

The Monday morning vestibule of the Blaine County Courthouse was a crowded place. Hopeful bidders gathered to see if they could pick up a bargain at the delinquent tax sale at the treasurer’s office. More than 30 folks milled about, probably glad to be in out of the rain.

Germans From Russia to Hold Indoor Picnic

The American Historical Society of Germans from Russia will meet at 12:30 p.m. on July 8, 2023, for a fried chicken and homemade ice cream lunch, followed by Paulette Schroeder’s presentation of “Ships of my Ancestors”. The meeting will be held at My Lord’s Lutheran Church, 2900 W Hefner Rd., OKC.

These whistling duck parents have quite a job ahead of them raising this clutch of babies. However, as they paraded around downtown Watonga, they did a good job of keeping the little ones lined out, even at naptime.

City Approves Contracts, Purchase Order for Home Build

Watonga City Council met in special session Tuesday evening. It was considered a special session because the date deviated from the annual calendar issued in December. The date change was so that the city budget could be approved and sent to the state auditor within time limits set by statute.

The Watonga Republican staff spent Saturday at Shawnee, where they attended the Oklahoma Press Association convention. The morning was spent with state officials including Getner Drummond, the state’s attorney general and Frank Lucas, one of the U.S. Representatives for Oklahoma.
