Tax Sale Draws Eager Crowd

The Monday morning vestibule of the Blaine County Courthouse was a crowded place. Hopeful bidders gathered to see if they could pick up a bargain at the delinquent tax sale at the treasurer’s office. More than 30 folks milled about, probably glad to be in out of the rain.

Red Cedar Water Conservation Bill Now Law

OKLAHOMA CITY – Rep. Mike Dobrinski, R-Okeene, today praised the enactment of legislation that establishes a pilot program to explore solutions to the red cedar infestation throughout the state, beginning with a concentration on the North Canadian Watershed.

Rainy Days, Mondays and Birthdays

It was blazing hot yesterday but today (YAY!) it is cool and rainy. Don't ya just love Mother (I can't make up my mind) Nature's inability to decide what our weather should be on any given day? Who am I kidding? It's more like any given hour around here. I do love cool, rainy mornings.

Ferguson Features

The Sign. It was propped up against a van across from the Senior Center on South Noble: A large metal sign with four attachment holes advertising the Ferguson Home Museum. The president of the Friends of the Ferguson Home, Connie Burcham, was the first to spot it.

Germans From Russia to Hold Indoor Picnic

The American Historical Society of Germans from Russia will meet at 12:30 p.m. on July 8, 2023, for a fried chicken and homemade ice cream lunch, followed by Paulette Schroeder’s presentation of “Ships of my Ancestors”. The meeting will be held at My Lord’s Lutheran Church, 2900 W Hefner Rd., OKC.

City Approves Contracts, Purchase Order for Home Build

Watonga City Council met in special session Tuesday evening. It was considered a special session because the date deviated from the annual calendar issued in December. The date change was so that the city budget could be approved and sent to the state auditor within time limits set by statute.

Construction, Finances Rolling at Watonga Public Schools

The Watonga School Board, meeting in regular session Monday, heard multiple updates about the school sites and projects as well as planning for the upcoming school year that begins Aug. 10.
