Saturday late afternoon, the Matrons Rook Club met at the Sr. Center to enjoy our monthly senior rook playing. All of a sudden, someone said "oh my goodness, what is that.” We looked out the double doors and saw that it was actually raining!! Since we haven't been blessed with rain for quite a long while we stood there watching it. It did not last over 15 minutes but it was nice while it lasted.

Happy Mother's Day

Erma Bombeck, the queen of all mothers, said it best when she wrote her Mother's Day 1974 column entitled “When God Created Mothers.” If you haven't read it, I recommend you do because it is so true.

Hi everybody! Well, another week has passed. The wind's still blowing and we're still dry as can be. The weatherman this morning shows all these chances for rain during the coming week. I'll believe it when I see it.

Driving home from Church on Sunday I saw so many ‘HE IS RISEN’ signs staked in many yards. A certain indicated sign that it was Easter Sunday. The weather contributed a pleasant, less windy day allowing us to spend some time outdoors. I noticed some families had Easter egg hunts going on in their yards and it looked like there were a good number of great get togethers!!

I've never been overly ambitious when it comes to trying new things that require a lot of 'thought' just to turn the darn thing on. When I got my first cellular phone back in the dark ages all I could do was make phone calls. Kids today would be appalled at the thought of a phone that was only good for actually talking to an actual person.

We had a good turnout for the Easter Egg hunt for as cold as it was Saturday. Several had pictures made too. Four ladies camping in the Tee Pees out at Roman Nose came during the midst of all that for a tour. I apologized that they had to go through the middle of the people lined up to get pictures made and they said not to worry that they enjoyed seeing the museum.

Senate Review

The Legislature’s only constitutionally-required job each year is to create a balanced budget to fund state government services. While we file, vote and pass numerous pieces of legislation each year to make our state a better place to live and work, a great deal of our time is spent on creating this budget framework. Unlike the federal government, we cannot spend more money than the revenues collected for the year, so we are constantly keeping an eye on the state of our economy and tax revenues collected.

Just sitting out on the Patio enjoying Sunshine, 78 degree weather, and wondering how intense tonight's thunderstorms will be. I guess time will tell! Kayla Trahan from Brookdale Nursing Facility came by to check on our seniors to see if we needed any assistance, or had any questions about services that Brookdale has to offer.
