Tigers Claw Whippets, Eagles to Face Comets Friday Night

The Canton Tiger squad opened up like a buzz saw against the 4-4 Okeene Whippets Friday night at home. The team placed 44 unanswered points on the board on the way to a 50-6 win over Okeene. That takes the Canton record to 4 and 5 going into the season’s final game Nov.

Running in the state cross country meets on Saturday, Oct. 29, Watonga freshman Brayden Cowan placed second in 2A, finishing his race in 16:31. Senior Matt Martin of Geary qualified for the state meet as well, did not place in the top 25.

The Geary Bison met an unusual situation Friday night in their game against Grandfield. A power outage in town caused the game to be called in the first half because the lights available weren’t sufficient to complete play.
The Geary HS cross country team ran at the regional meet at OBA in Enid on Saturday. Senior Matt Martin claimed a medal and will compete at the state meet at Edmond Santa Fe on Saturday, Oct. 29. The HS girls' team finished 11th overall in the team standings. Congratulations coaches, teams and our state qualifier, Matt Martin.

Eagles Take on Crusaders

The Watonga Eagles suffered a lopsided loss Friday night to the Christian Heritage Crusaders, 49-0. This followed a bye week for the Watonga squad. The Eagles are carrying a 2-6 record on the season going into a Nov. 4 clash at home with Hinton High School. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Cowan and Coleman Storm Regionals, Prepare for State

On Saturday, Oct. 22, the Watonga cross country teams made their way to Waurika to compete at the Regional Cross Country Meet. They have been preparing all season to have a chance to qualify for state, and two underclassmen runners rose to the challenge.
Last week, the Watonga HS band competed at the OSSAA Regional Field Marching Contest in Enid and received an Excellent (2) rating. We are extremely proud of the work they’ve put into this show this year! A great first year of bringing back competitive field marching to Watonga!
