The Watonga School District moved last week to an altered schedule for its middle school and high schools because of the rise of COVID-19 cases in the county and across the state. “These are trying and challenging times for all of us,” a statement on the district’s web site stated.

As of November 23, there were 177,874 confirmed cases of the Covid-19 virus in the state, up by 3,544 in the last 24 hours according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health. There were fifteen deaths reported in the last day. This brings the death toll to 1,649.

The Watonga Police Department hopes the arrest of suspects will help put an end to a recent slew of vehicle burglaries. Day shift corporal Aaron Vales was investigating the burglaries, and while following up leads, located two suspects about 1:30 p.m. Nov. 17.
