A Letter from the Geary Public Library

This year seems to fling by quickly as we head into August. We are getting ready for the kids to head back to school with our new online program through the Oklahoma Department of Libraries. Brainfuse is a program that allows you receive help with school and tutoring at no cost to you.

There weren’t any visitors this week at the museum. I guess everyone was taking advantage of the cooler weather to get caught up on other stuff. We have a picture of the Watonga band, I assume it’s the school band and it’s all men. I couldn’t find a date so we could know what year.

Hi everybody! I hope you are all doing well. I went last Tuesday for my pacemaker surgery. Surgery was at 9 AM and I was home by 2 PM. They were really herding us through. One surgery every hour ( the surgery only took 45 minutes).

Super Nana & Papa to the Rescue

What happens when Nana and Papa acquire more than a dozen grandkids over the course of 20 years? We morph into Super Nana and Papa, of course. How does one get the designation of Super added to their titles? It ain't easy but I'll tell ya; it takes a whole lot of time and energy.

Ferguson Features

We had about 30 people attend the Trades Day. Several stopped by to see if we had any fresh vegetables. I was looking forward to fresh vegetable too. It is a little early for there to be a surplus right now because it stayed cold longer this spring.

Hi everybody! I hope you’ve all had a good week. Its sure been hot and I guess its gonna get hotter. I sure feel bad for all the fire fighters working that Hitchcock blaze. I pray that they will get it out soon and that they all stay safe while doing it. They have a really tough job.

There were five visitors this past week. A couple and a lady on Wednesday, and two ladies on Thursday. Ashley found a Watonga Republican newspaper article dated April 18, 1968, concerning making the T.B. Ferguson home into a museum.

Entertaining Is Not My Forté

Let's face it–I am not now, nor have I ever been a social butterfly. My tendencies lean toward hermit when it comes to socializing but once a year, we have out-of-town friends who come to visit over the Fourth of July holiday.

It’s been a quiet week at the museum with no visitors. I guess it’s been too hot Ṫhe City of Watonga is going to have a celebration at the Huff Lorang Park on 4th of July. There will be games for the kids and hamburgers and hot dogs. Later that night there will be a fireworks display.

A Lamp to My Feet

Zechariah 5 contains 2 more visions: 5:1­4, The Vision of the Flying Scroll, and 5:5­11, The Vision of the Wicked Woman in a Basket. The flying scroll is a parchment or book. They did not have printed books like we have today This scroll contains a curse on each side.
