Watonga Eagles High School golfer, sophomore Natalie Walker braved the cold and wind on April 20th to take first as an Individual Qualifier for Regionals. Walker is the sole golfer this season for Watonga High School.

Watonga Says ‘Thanks!’ for New Scoreboards

(Pictured above) Watonga coaches this week extended a big “thank-you” to First State Bank and B&W Ready Mix for providing new scoreboards to the softball and baseball fields, respectively, at Huff-Lorang Park. The softball scoreboard was installed last week.

Rinehart Homers But Eagles Drop 2 in Hinton

Watonga’s Joe Rinehart stole the show Monday evening in Hinton, launching a solo home run to straightaway center field that kept the Eagles in the ballgame. But the blast wasn’t enough to overcome an onslaught of offense from the Comets, who took game one of the doubleheader by a 16-11 score.

Geary Baseball Hoping to ‘Surprise the World’ During Districts in Maysville

The Geary Bison will travel to Maysville for their District tournament Wednesday against the No. 18 Warriors and the Oilton Panthers. Admission is $7 for adults and students. Geary will play Maysville at noon and then Oilton at 2 p.m.

Jocelyn Turney set a new school record in the 400m dash, one of several first-place finishes for the Lady Eagles on the day as they edged out their hosts to take top honors at the Chisholm Invitational on Monday. Turney set the Watonga record with a time of 58.45 in the 400.

The Watonga Lady Eagles poured on the offense Friday but ultimately dropped a back-and-forth ballgame to Waukomis by the final score of 11-10. The loss drops the Lady Eagles to 2-6 overall for the season, according to the OSSAA.

Lady Bison Have 'Come a Long Way' in Spring Softball

The Geary High girls didn’t have enough players to field a full squad Tuesday, so the junior high squad got an extra game in during a doubleheader with visiting Calumet. The Lady Bison bats came alive, besting the Lady Chieftans 13-5 in the first game and 9-3 in the second.
